Description
In summer, L'Alpe d'Huez is an ideal starting point for excursions to the western and southern faces of the Grandes Rousses and the surrounding massifs.
In a high-mountain atmosphere, you'll discover the basics of glacier hiking on a magical itinerary.
Departing from Alpe d'Huez, you'll take the Pic Blanc cable car up to the Grand Sablat glacier at 3330m.
Head for the Col de la Pyramide, to reach the Col de l'Impossible and finish this beautiful loop at the Col du Grand Sablat. A magnificent 360° panorama!
This route offers magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and massifs. Splendid!
PRACTICAL INFO :
Level: Discovery
Physical condition: good walker - good physical condition. Able to walk 2 times two hours at altitude.
Minimum age: 12 years
Minimum number of participants: 4
Maximum number of participants: 6
Equipment provided: technical equipment (harness, ice axes, crampons, helmet, etc.).
Equipment to bring: rigid high-top hiking boots (can be rented from the "La Montagne Sport" store in Bourg d'Oisans) + pants + windbreaker or fleece + thin gloves + hat + poles - + backpack with water (min 1l/pers.) + picnic + sun cream.
