Description

After a first life in advertising, Laurent Bibas chose to devote himself fully to painting, developing a deeply sensory body of work in his Normandy studio.

His work explores materials in all their richness: tar, bitumen, walnut stain, oils and burnt wood, using a technique inspired by Japanese Shou Sugi Ban.

Influenced by the intensity of Pierre Soulages and the chromatic force of Nicolas de Staël, he creates abstract works in which textures and reliefs dialogue with light. Deep shades of blacks, blues, greens and grays evoke inner landscapes, between Norman reminiscences and Mediterranean horizons.

"Matter is memory: it preserves traces of gesture, time and emotion.

This exhibition takes on a very special dimension for our company. Laurent Bibas has been a loyal visitor to the Grandes Rousses Hotel & Spa since childhood. Over the years, sincere ties have been forged, making his presence a matter of course. This invitation is a tribute to the history of our House: that of encounters, loyalties and shared memories, which are passed on and enriched over time.
