Learn how to ski

Ski lessons and mini ski-camps

From age 2 and a half, Alpe d’Huez has ski schools where little ones can learn under ideal conditions in a fun environment and at their own pace.

Everything is organised so that skiing is a real pleasure and with lots of fun and games.  There is a protected safe zone with age appropriate equipment: snow-tows ropes, covered magic carpet surface lifts and welcoming fun characters on display to make learning lots of fun.

Under 5 year olds

For under-fives, it’s FREE to ski!

Little ones will still need a ski pass to go through the turnstiles so don’t forget to bring their ID (obligatory) for proof of age to get the pass at the ski-pass office

The slopes are developed to encourage progressive learning. Beginners can discover the pleasures of being on the snow in the very best conditions.

At the bottom of the pistes there are 2 protected zones especially designed for beginners:

- Close to the Bergers shopping centre

- At the departure point at the Rond-Point des Pistes (Pistes Roundabout)

Additionally, there are, 4 completely free ski lifts for those who are just starting out and all ages can build up their confidence on the slopes without spending a bean!

- the petit Rif Nel 1 drag lift

- the École 2 drag lift.

- the Grenouilles (frog) magic carpet

- the Télécentre

Just can’t get enough….?

Beginners who come on in leaps and bounds and are ready for the next step can buy a special beginner’s ski pass for €22.50 per day. As well as the 4 free ski lifts, the pass provides access to:

- Rif Nel combined lift

- Grand Rif Nel drag lift

- Grand Ecole drag lift

- Sagnes drag lift

For ‘advanced’ beginners: there is another ski pass option called « 1st Glisse » at €41.50 per day which provides access to the chair lifts and  combined lifts   departing from  Alpe d’Huez not including the  Marmotte 1 ski lift and Alpauris.
