Lepape Marmotte Granfondo

Saturday 5 September 2020.

Marmotte is for cyclists what Embrun is for triathletes or UTMB for trail runners: The Grail!

No matter how long it takes to complete the 174 kilometers and overcome the 5000 meters of elevation gain, the important thing is to leave the country with the finisher medal and the diploma attesting to the achievement achieved. Here, everything is done to dream and suffer at the same time with the gaze amazed by the mountains but the legs that burn on the slope.

The historic date of the 1st weekend in July has become the unmissable cycling event, and the cycling event on one of the most important days of summer in the Alps, after the Tour de France.
Voluntarily limited to 7,500 participants, the event was a real success and aroused the lust of cyclists around the world. Here, almost 80% of the peloton does not speak French with more than 6000 cyclists from 45 different countries.

Each contender no longer counts the hours of effort and training, the kilometers and the difference in height traveled in order to reach the final objective: the arrival at the top of the 21 laces of the Alpe d'Huez. It takes tenacity and courage to overcome this cyclosportive and the chain of 5 of the most legendary passes in France: the Glandon, the Telegraph, the Galibier, the Lautaret, and finally the final ascent of the 'Alpe d'Huez.
