Alpe d’Huez is an ideal starting point to discover exceptional panoramas, 12 lakes within walking distance, and prestigious peaks in the Massif des Grandes Rousses or in the Écrins National Park.
The resort offers 250 miles of marked routes, including several easy routes for family walks, accessible for all.

The network of lifts makes it possible to vary the walks and hiking circuits. The mountain guide suggests theme treks for a better introduction to the site, its wildlife, flora, and life in high mountain pastures.

ALPE D'HUEZ GRAND DOMAINE - Some walking trails...

The Grandes Rousses massif offers a lot of hike itineraries, accessible to everyone, strating from the resort, or using the summer lift network.

1. PROMENADE DU COL DU LAC BLANC *

Start: 2700 m - Finish : 2800 m - Length : 2 km - Duration : 1h

Climb to the "Dôme des Petites Rousses" by way of a 4x4 road.
Enjoy the views of lake "la Fare" and lake "du Milieu" as well as the peak of "Pic Blanc".

2. LA FACE DES ROUSSES **

Start: 2700 m - Finish: 2800 m - Length: 2 km - Duration: 1h
Climb to the "Dôme des Petites Rousses" by way of a 4x4 road.
Enjoy the views of lake "la Fare" and lake "du Milieu" as well as the peak of "Pic Blanc".

3. REFUGE DU VALLON DE LA FARE ****

Start: 2700 m - Finish: 2043 m - Length: 4,5 km - Duration: 3h
Enjoy the views of "lac du Milieu" and "lac la Fare",descending the pedestrian path to the Alpette lift.

4. LA COMBE CHARBONNIERE ***

Start: 2700 m - Finish: 1806 m - Length: 8,7 km - Duration: 2h30
Walk along a 4X4 road toward "lac Blanc", "le clocher de Mâcle", "la combe Charbonnière", and "le chemin de la Mine". Finish at "les Bergers" shopping center.

5. LA RONDE DES LACS **

Start: 2100 m - Finish: 2100 m - Length: 9,5 km - Duration: 1h30
Walk towards the direction of the "Alpette" lift, along a path passing "lac Besson", "lac Noir", "lac Faucille", and "lac Carrelet".

6. LE PLATEAU DE MONFRAIS **

Start: 2100 m - Finish: 1250 m - Length: 2,3 km - Duration: 2h
Descend a 4x4 road along the Montfrais plateau to lac Carrelet and then continuing to the village "La Villette" and finaly to the village of Vaujany.

7. LA COMBE DE POUTRAN **

Start: 2100 m - Finish: 1350 m - Length: 5,3 km - Duration: 1h
Descend to the village of Oz along a 4x4 road through the "Combe de Poutran".
Enjoy the views of the "Belledonne" and "Taillefer" mountains, the "Eau d'Olle" valley, and the "Romanche" valley. Return by way of the Poutran cable car.

8. LES ALPAGES **

Start: 1860 m - Finish: 1775 m - Length: 11 km - Duration: 4h
Climb the slope of the "Signal" by way of a 4x4 road. Enjoy the views of the "Belledonne" and "Taillefer" mountains as well as the Romanche valley as you traverse the Signal before descending the "alpages" (mountain pastures) to the village of Villard-Reculas.
Continue along the road between Villard-Reculas and Huez village. Upon your arrival at Huez, take the "télévillage" cable car to return to the resort.

9. LA VOIE ROMAINE*

Start: 1860 m - Finish: 1470 m - Length: 2,5 km - Duration: 30 min
Just below the "télévillage" cable car, take the trail that follows the route of an ancient roman path to the village of Huez. Enjoy the views of the "Belledonne" and "Taillefer" mountains, and the Romanche valley. Return by way of the télévillage cable car.

10. COL DE SARENNE **

Start: 1860 m - Finish: 1775 m - Length: 13,5 km - Duration: 4h
Starting from the "Altiport" (high altitude airport), Take the 4x4 raod in the direction of the "Col de Sarenne", to the "Pont de Sarenne" (Sarenne bridge). From the bridge you can continue to the Sarenne Refuge or descend to the village of Huez. Enjoy the views of "Signal de l'Homme" and the "col de Cluy" as well as the pleasant walk in the forest just before Huez. Return to the resort by way of the télévillage cable car.

11. TOUR DU SIGNAL DE L’HOMME ***

Start: 1470 m - Finish: 1450 m - Length: 19 km - Duration: 5h
Starting from Huez, take the 4x4 road in the direction of the Gorges de Sarenne. In the forest, take the concrete arch bridge crossing the stream and climb the path to the village of Rosay, continue to "les Orgières", the Col de Maronne, Auris village, the Saint Giraud Chapel, and finally the col de Cluy before returning to Huez again by the Gorge de Sarenne.

12. TRAVERSEE DU RAVIN DE LA BALME **

Start: 2110 m - Finish: 1470 m - Duration: 2h
Starting from DMC 2100 m, cross towards les Bergers and at the Poutat sheepfold, continue to cross the Balme ravine to arrive at Pierre Ronde, go down to the Gua. Continue along the road to Huez. Return to the resort by way of the télévillage cable car.

13. CHEMIN PANORAMIQUE **

Start: 1860 m - Finish: 1450 m - Duration: 2h
From the car park of the building Saint Laurent (corner after the City Council of the Alpe d'Huez), followthe road that overlooks the No. 1 corner of the climb of Alpe d'Huez and the village, down through the mountain pastures of the village of Villard-Reculas. Back to the road Huez Villard. Back to the Alpe d'Huez televillage.
