🚗 What are the road conditions like?

In winter, the road with its 21 bends leading to Alpe d’Huez is regularly cleared of snow but remains a mountain road. Winter equipment is mandatory between November and March, and checks are frequent.
In summer, around fifteen events (Alpe d’Huzes, Triathlon, Tour de France, Étape du Tour, etc.) may require road closures—plan accordingly.
On the famous 21 bends, be cautious of cyclists. Slow down on the bends, anticipate overtaking, and maintain a safe distance. And remember to allow a minimum of 1.5m when passing cyclists.
