ROAD ACCES AND INFORMATION

Due to traffic disruptions, it is highly recommended to arrive the day before this stage of the ‘Tour de France’ race.

Arrivals on the day of the race will need to use the lift / cable-cars from Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany or Auris-en-Oisans to reach Alpe d’Huez.

Acces and road closures Friday 22nd July

Road closures

Thursday 21st - (eve of this stage)

  • The road from Patte d’Oie and Alpe d’Huez (from intersection of RD211 & RD211 F) will be closed from 7 p.m.
  • The road between Villard-Reculas and Huez (RD211B) will be closed from 7 p.m.
     

Friday 22nd July
To access Alpe d’Huez, plan to reach Bourg d’Oisans via the RD1091

  •   The road between the Col du Lautaret and Bourg d’Oisans will be closed  to traffic  at the Col from 12.30 p.m  and when traffic is considered too heavy, the road will also be closed before the arrival in Bourg d’Oisans.
  • The road from Bourg d’Oisans  and Alpe d’Huez (RD 211) will be closed from 10.30am.
  • The road to Col de Sarenne will be closed.
     

* These restrictions apply to all vehicles including 2-wheel vehicle (motorized and un-motorized). Local residents along this route will be permitted access during specified periods.

Acces by cable car

You can go to  Oz en Oisans, Vaujany and Auris en Oisans and take a cable car to access the resort (See opposite table).

Dans l’Alpe d’Huez by Télécentre 8 a.m to 7 p.m €2.50 one way

A special shuttle Tour de France was set up between La Garde and L'Alpe d'Huez (round trip).
:: Free shuttle service, accessible with stops on request.

Timetables and bus stop

 

Parking restrictions

  • Parking several days in advance of the event from Patte d’Oie to Alpe d’Huez (intersection of RD211 / RD211 F) is forbidden.
  • These restrictions also apply on July 21st between Villard-Reculas and Huez (RD211 B)


Single file parking will be permitted between Bourg d’Oisans and Patte d’Oie on the left side of the road only.

These restrictions will be enforced by the police.

 

Traffic departing from Alpe d'Huez

  • Reopening of RD211 on July 22nd from 11 p.m

For those who plan on leaving Alpe d’Huez on Saturday 23rd July , it is advisable to depart either very early in the morning or  later in the afternoon.

Panneaux TDF  Warning: the "Contre la Montre" race which is part of the Tour de France takes place in Grenoble on July 23rd and goes through Vizille, Brié-et-Angonnes, Saint-Martin d’Uriage, Eybens.
