In France we have the Telethon, in Holland its Alpes d’Huzes.12,000 people are expected at the beginning of June in Alpe d’Huez with the aim of raising over €20m towards Cancer research.
The challenge for cyclists of Alpe d’Huzes: come up the 21 bends no less than 6 times! When it comes to giving to others, the participants and their families have proved to us over the years that it’s possible to move mountains.

30th edition - Not just a legendary race...
7000 cyclists every year and height differences that would send even the most up to date altimeters round the bend! The ascents up mythical cols (Cols du Glandon, Télégraphe, Galibier et Lautaret) and the final ascent up the world famous 21 bends to Alpe d’Huez…Have resulted in a wicked cocktail of elements, making La Marmotte one of the most reputed sports cycling events in the world.

This 14 km cycling event climbs the famous 21 hairpin turns to Alpe d'Huez and will award the "Trophy of Oisans" to the first to cross the finish line.
9th year - 4 days to get into top shape!
To boost the moral and re-energize those bodies, the Fitness Convention is the place to be!
With an average altitude of 1860m, simply add to the cocktail: well known professionals from the world over, breathtaking scenery, state of the art equipment and a warm welcome from a team willing and eager to help out. With this shaken this all together and you’ll have the recipe for getting back in shape in record time…not stirred of course

18th year running - The “Freeride” event of the year!
The Megavalanche is a downhill event which is unusual in that the riders start the race in mass and set off to cover a track of 15 to 25km with 2000m to 3000m height difference.
The race is open to pros and to amateurs. The route for 2011 has been re-thought out to fit in more thrills so that skills are challenged to the max!
7th year - Up for a challenge
Triathletes from around the world come to confront 21 bends and route specially mapped by Cyril Neveu.
A short distance routes, a triathlon for children and Duathlon are accessible to all.

A festive and costumed weekend, full of history
In Alpe d’Huez, there are holidaymakers and there are “Huizats”*! The Saint-Anne festival is organized by the Huizats to honour the patron Saint of Huez, a historical village in the resort.. They’ll be plenty of activities and fun to be had over the weekend: painting stained glass, trout fishing, a meal in the countryside, a ball, a traditional costume parade, a boot fair, and a mass in honour of Saint Anne...

16th year
13th year - Fast and Furious in the great outdoors!
Alpe d’Huez is proud to welcome the 7th section of the Supermotard Championship organized by the RTD 38. Half on road, half off road, it’s fast and spectacular with its high altitude and height differences. The Eclose circuit is always an amazing display of action packed races. Great atmosphere on the race tracks.
7th year - High flying experiences
Everyone grab your binoculars: There’s a great show to be seen on a super giant screen: the sky. The Aeroclub of the Dauphiné prepare a programme with: air shows featuring best pilots, planes equipped with the latest leading edge technology and others flying out of the history books to delight all plane enthusiasts.
Spectators too can join in too by taking over the controls of one of the flight simulators on some of the most prestigious planes.
Welcome to the Middle Ages
To preserve interesting history and to share the wealth of an era that we know so little about, the Tourist Office and the GEMA association will turn the resort into a medieval village over a Sunday afternoon at the end of the summer : fossil chipping, the blacksmith’s forge, spinning, weaving, plants, cooking, emblems, games from the olden days, historical combats all in an artistic and musical atmosphere.
